Ever wish to be a kid again? To be a free spirit in a simpler time? Many people desire to nurture their inner child, some moreso than others. One method of achieving the feelings of childhood is by sleeping in an adult-sized crib. It may sound a bit far-fetched, but sleeping in a crib creates an unmatched level of inner comfort and security for many people.
One problem with the search for a crib sized for an adult is that there simply aren't many good ones. If you're in the market for one, you've probably discovered that the few options out there are almost universally cheaply-constructed, poor quality, and generally un-settling to sleep in. And, the few that are close to the level of quality offered by other furniture companies are priced far beyond the reach of the average customer. If your goal is to truly sleep like a baby, shouldn't your bed be as solid and stable as it felt during your childhood?
At Howling Otter Studios, your comfort is our specialty. We spent years researching our designs before building them for customers, and we take no shortcuts in their construction. Our cribs are built to the same stringent quality guidelines as other fine furniture creators, without breaking the bank to purchase one. We also use realistic designs which allow the crib to be disassembled and moved easily, requiring no more tools to disassemble/reassemble than any other bed. The use of standard bed hardware makes assembly easy and familiar, and the few bolts in the design are threaded into fixed nuts, keeping the wood safe from harsh screws, and protecting your investment for a lifetime of use.
This particular model represents our debut, the culmination of our quest to build an adult-sized crib that's on-par with fine furniture in both quality and cost. It's built from locally-grown Appalachian Poplar, giving it unparalleled strength and durability, and will be as strong as the house you set it up in for as long as you own it. It's a standard twin-sized frame, and unlike some other designs, it easily accomodates any standard mattress. This element is often overlooked by adult-sized crib makers, but an adult needs more back support than a child, so a thin mattress is unsuitable for long-term use. Our cribs also feature a solid bottom under the mattress, negating the need for a box spring or other mattress support.
